Glow Inflatables Ltd were delighted to partner up once again with strategic design agency Yard, this time to deliver an unforgettable large-scale installation for legendary rock band Metallica concert at the Olympic Stadium in Athens.

The result was a dramatic 15m x 15m illuminated inflatable sculpture featuring an aggressive spike design inspired by the raw energy and intensity of Metallica’s music. Positioned outside the stadium as part of a Cosmote Telekom activation, the shocking pink structure quickly became a focal point for concertgoers, drawing crowds and creating photo opportunities.

The installation process required careful planning and precision from the Glow Team. The juxtaposition of soft inflatable forms and industrial scaffold created a stark contrast. Each inflatable pink spike had to be accurately aligned through sections of the scaffold during setup to ensure the final structure achieved the intended visual impact whilst maintaining safe rigging and structural integrity.

As night fell over the Olympic Stadium, the installation truly came to life. External LED lighting illuminated the sculpture, creating a dramatic effect that amplified the scale and texture of the inflatable design – perfect for the event which broke all previous attendance records at the venue.

Glow Inflatables provided rigging, installation and on-site technical support for the project, working closely with Yard and the wider production team to ensure smooth delivery within a demanding live-event environment.

From concept collaboration through to final inflation and lighting adjustments, the project showcased Glow’s expertise in delivering complex large-scale inflatable activations for world-class events.
