Glow Inflatables recently had the pleasure of bringing a truly exciting creative collaboration to life, working alongside Baby Lion for end client, Sanofi. This project pushed the boundaries of what inflatable installations can be, blending playful design with innovative technology to create something genuinely memorable.
The installation in Denver at the American Academy of Dermatology’s Annual Meeting featured bespoke inflatable characters who represented different types of immune cells. Reggie, Effie, Ace, and Memo were between 5 and 8 feet tall, and were impossible to miss. Each carefully crafted figure had their own unique personality and identity, creating a vibrant, welcoming and highly interactive exhibition stand. Their presence added a sense of fun and curiosity, encouraging visitors to stop, engage and connect with the brand.
What set this project apart was the technology embedded within each inflatable. The characters were brought to life with animated pixel eyes, capable of displaying movement and expression. This gave them a surprising level of personality, transforming them from static objects into characters with presence and emotion.
In addition, each inflatable featured internal gradient LED lighting that transitioned smoothly between colours. This gave the characters a soft, glowing effect that enhanced their visual appeal, particularly in a live exhibition environment. To further elevate their individuality, some characters were designed with playful physical details such as oversized glasses which added even more charm and distinction.
The initial brief included a request for animated eye movement. To achieve this we developed compact pixel screens that could be seamlessly integrated into the inflatables. Any cabling was discreetly routed through an internal system of acrylic (Perspex) support poles within each character.
The end result exceeded expectations. The characters were not only visually striking but also incredibly expressive and engaging in a live setting. Their combination of soft illumination, animated features and playful design made them a standout attraction at the event.
Most importantly, the client was delighted with the outcome. For us, this project represents a perfect example of what can be achieved through collaboration, creativity, and a willingness to explore new technical possibilities. It’s a direction we’re excited to continue developing as we look ahead to future innovations in inflatable design.
